Great things come in small packages and in Boxes: Lost Fragment the package is hours of worth of engaging, brain-twisting fun.
The crisp graphics and audio stir up an eerie environment that is simply unparalleled by any such game available on a mobile phone. In other words, Boxes: Lost Fragments boasts a PC-caliber experience.
The serious atmosphere makes Boxes: Lost Fragments quite intimidating to take on, especially through all its textures and surfaces, the interactive parts of puzzles are meant to be manually figured out. There are no highlights, outlines, or similar hints that indicate “try me.”
Tapping through the entire screen to see what will budge will be in vain since a lot of the moving parts must be triggered in a certain way. There are no penalties if you make a wrong move as Boxes: Lost Fragments keeps no scores or times but that does not make the journey through the chapters a walk in the park.
We understand that you’re not here to marvel at how challenging or beautifully crafted each puzzle box is in Boxes: Lost Fragments. You’re here to find your way through solving them all and solve them all, you will—from Tutorial to Aurora—with the help of this detailed walkthrough. That’s how we do it here in Level Winner!
Tutorial:
Once you have acquired the mechanical key and get it ready for use, rotate your view to see the back part of the glass dome that contains the mask. You will see a puzzle with a rotatable ring and two green semi-circles; the objective is to make them touch each other.
Rotating the ring will make its inner walls turn with it. The idea is to make the walls of the mini-maze avoid each semi-circle, clearing a path for them as you drag them bit by bit to unite in the middle. All it takes is one full counter-clockwise turn.
Once done, there will be an animation revealing the keyhole for which the mechanical key is. Drag the key, turn it, and then you get the mask. The circular altar will then withdraw to the floor.
Next objective: The token
After the table withdraws, rotate your camera to face the part of the room where you can see a knight holding a shield. Around the right-hand side, you will see a small protruding desk with an objective glinting bright blue. Tap on it to open the box that holds the token and then take it.
Pinch to zoom out back to the room and then tap on the golden pedestal with Roman numbers (each number, represents a chapter). Insert the token and then a series of animations will play which lead to an illuminated doorway and a glowing puzzle box— the first of many. It’s the official start of your journey.
Chapter 1: Puzzle Box 1
Turn your camera to the side of the box with a small, horizontal rectangle “window” in its center. Slightly slide the small green button to the right to open that panel.
There will be two rotatable discs inside with a wide slit each. Align the slits to access a switch and then slide the trigger to the right. It will make that entire portion of the puzzle box protrude, instantly revealing a window with a small, gold slide handle. Slide to open and then pry up the cover to get the key inside.
Zoom out and then go to the direct opposite side of the puzzle box where a padlock is. Use the key there to free the sliding doors open. You’ll be able to get a mechanical disk inside.
Inspect the disk so you can set it up. Simply tap on its two inner sections until a teardrop shape is formed; the topmost part of the disk shall be your clue. Once the inner part of the disc shows a gear teeth receiver, it’s ready for use.
Go to the smaller box and put the mechanical disk on its top to open it. A simple slide lock will be revealed and upon opening it, you can get the Mechanical Sphere inside. Once you have it, go on top of the main box and put the sphere.
The sphere will transform into a luminescent eye. Pay attention to the rim around it. Turn it all the way clockwise to make the eye face upside down. This will illuminate the box, causing some parts of it to emit orange light.
Go to the side of the box that has a clock-like object pictured above. Use the circles with grates on both sides to turn the two frames of lines and circles independently. The objective is to make each circle on the frames land on the four orange holes.
The box will then open, revealing a small, magical door. You can rotate its base to see the back side of the said door and there you will see four symbols. Take note of how the symbols are arranged.
Go back to the front side and inspect the door; the camera will zoom into its center where you can see a flower-like object with a unique symbol in each petal. Your next objective is to rearrange the symbols, copying the arrangement from the back side.
To rearrange the symbols, extend all petals by sliding them away from the center. Make the petals turn by tapping on the green button in the middle and then retract them back to the center according to the arrangement.
The door will then open, revealing a statue holding a locket. Open the locket by sliding the flower ornaments on the north and south positions to take east and west. You’ll be able to get the Strange Compass it contains.
Zoom all the way out to the main puzzle box and go to the side that has a spinning globe inside; the circle slot there is for the compass. Once you have placed the compass, it will stop spinning, letting you pan and scan the globe.
You must search for a certain spot on the globe. The number of lights will help you find it; the more nodes lit up, the closer you are to it. After you find the spot, the panel will open, letting you take the main objective for puzzle box number of Chapter 1: the Bear Sigil Figure.
Chapter 1: Puzzle Box 2
The platform of puzzle box number 2 has three other objects: a small drawer, a story card, and a stack of books. Go to the stack of books first and keep tapping on them until you get a certain book. It’s easy to unseal the book; just tap on the locks and you’ll be able to open it. Grab the Small Handle within.
Go back to the box and focus on the side with a small square window. This part is easy; just pull the lever down and you’ll be able to place the Small Handle you have obtained in one of the pegs. There are two pegs so it means you need to look for another handle.
You can find the other handle by twisting the knob beneath the dome-like object on top of the puzzle box. Turn it until its base protrudes, exposing the other handle. Take it and put it on the other peg at the square window.
With the handles installed, you can now tune the sliders. Follow the placement shown in the screenshot below to get the Metal Disk.
Zoom out to the puzzle box and look for the side that has a capsule-shaped window with two half-visible discs. Find the open sections of each disk by spinning them. The window will open revealing two circular gear formations.
Place the Metal Disk on the bottom circle and then slide the blue bar in the middle down. A portion of the platform will uncover thick grates. You can see an item beneath it; leave that for now.
The lever you have previously pulled will allow you to focus on the side of the box that you previously could not zoom into–the side with a glass cover. Tap on the quick-turning gear to interact with it. All you need to do is to time tapping the blue button on the middle to expose the bottom part. There you’ll be able to take the Mechanical Wheel.
Go to other object on the platform—the small drawer. Pull its handle to open it and flip over the circle figure on top of it. It will reveal a stump to which you can attach the Mechanical Wheel. Crank the wheel to retrieve the handle.
Return to the side where the metal grates are and insert the handle on the circle with jagged points inside. Turn the handle all the way clockwise until all three gaps of the grates align. A toy in red clothes will pop out; make it spin to take the Small Key from its back.
Proceed to the side of the box that resembles a clock and insert the Small Key into the hole. Turning it clockwise will flip the clock’s face to reveal a gem-slotting contraption. Now you’re in the most enjoyable part of this puzzle box.
You need to hit the rectangle button on its base. Tapping on it will make the mechanism attempt to slot a blue gem. This requires timing as you need to fill all 8 slots. Once you’ve successfully done that, the clock will re-flip and a viewfinder tool will drop down from the ceiling.
Use it to reveal three invisible objects: a hanging pocket watch, a moving symbol on one side of the puzzle box, and another symbol at the head of the toy.
Manually adjust the time, to reflect the exact hour and minute shown by the invisible clock (5:47). Tap the face of the clock to change the symbols to the two invisible ones. The finished product is shown above. Take the Ornate Hourglass to officially complete puzzle box number 2.
Chapter 1: Puzzle Box 3
Start with the side that has two vertical sliders and pink pegs; use both to align the center rail. Once done, go to the side with a big circle in the middle. Turn the wide, gold ring until the semi-circle on its top reveals a sliding switch with a pink dial resting on the left side. Just slide that to the right and the circle will open.
Zoom out then proceed to the side that has a big, vertical rectangle with two golden circles that look like eyes. The bar on the top and bottom can be slid up and down, accordingly. Doing so unlocks the cover; pry the series of covers open until you obtain a key.
After taking the key, go to the other object on that platform: a small jewelry box. Insert the key and turn it counterclockwise to unlock it. You’ll be able to get an Ornate Sphere.
Inspect the sphere. The big oval gems around it can be slid up and down toward either “pole” of the sphere. All you need to do is slide the big ones and make them touch the small ones and not the empty slots. Doing so will transform the sphere into a tool.
Take the tool to the side of the puzzle box where the opened circle is. Insert the tool and rotate it all the way clockwise. That panel will protrude and eight petals will expand—4 pairs of inner and outer petals with 4 different colors.
Rearrange the two sets of petals, copying what is shown on one side of the box. To move a petal, just drag it to another and they will swap positions. For a quick reference of the arrangement, see the image below.
Upon arranging the petals, you’ll get a Small Shield. Zoom out then go to the top of the box; that’s the slot for the shield. Once the shield is placed, a circular panel will pop up, it has a purple button, surrounded by 9 holes—6 of which have marbles. Your objective is to get a marble in all nine holes.
Pressing the button will split the plate into 3 with 3 marbles each, thus 9 in total. Use the button at the center of each plate to rearrange the marbles then the main central button to merge them.
The quickest way to do it is to press one of the circles once, another twice, and the remaining one thrice. Your business on top of the puzzle box is done…for now.
The next part is well hidden but it has a subtle indicator. Look for a pillar of the puzzle box that has small pink gems on its base that resemble an arrowhead.
Tap on it to zoom then turn both upper and lower halves until you see gem-less arrowheads. Align them to form a straight line with the ones with pink gems.
Once done, the sections will reveal a slider switch. Use it and a hidden drawer will pop open. Pull it out to take the Mechanical Lady Bug.
Take the bug to the top of the puzzle box; its legs are right for the holes there. As soon as the bug is deployed, the perspective will change and resemble a side-scrolling game. The aim is to “help” the bug travel to the end.
Mechanical Lady Bug’s Journey
The bug starts on a ledge atop a gemmed cylinder. Rotate the portion where the green gems are until the “bridge” is fully lowered.
Wait for the bug to move forward and send it to the other side by rotating the wheel handles just above the bridge. Help the bug climb the door to the right by dragging the gemmed wall down; drag it back up to let it cross and travel on its own.
Eventually, the bug will stop in front of a gap right on top of a wheel. Turn the wheel all the way clockwise and wait for the bug to cross and climb the stairs. Once it reaches the top, turn the wheel again but counter-clockwise this time.
As soon as the bug walks a bit, drag the wall it stands on to the left. At the end of the journey, the bug will exit the puzzle box and give you what you need to complete puzzle box 3 of Chapter 1, the Owl Figure.
Chapter 1: Puzzle Box 4
Look for the side of the box that has a chain with the end submerged. Press the protruding gold peg and the chain will withdraw, revealing to you an Anchor. After which, go to the opposite side of the box and swipe down on the bottom panel to get a certain Metal Figure with the shape of a seahorse.
Zoom out all the way and then tap on the circular glass window by the front of the puzzle box to focus on it. Put the anchor on the peg to its right. Use it to unscrew the peg by turning it all the way counterclockwise.
Open the lid and a little Model Ship will be yours to take. Inspect it, to find a slider switch; drag it to the right. This will transform it into a Model Ship with Stand.
Proceed to the back of the puzzle box (the part where the hinges are) and swipe up on the objects that look like tiny wings. This will unlock a panel that gives you a Clam Shell. Take it then go back to the front side of the puzzle box; you’ll see the slot it is meant for. Place it there and in turn, you will get a Pearl.
Place the Pearl on the slot right above the front side of the box and then a series of vertical slider switches will be revealed to you. Note that they are linked together so you have to adjust a few times to put the covered ones in their correct spots. Drag the exposed sliders to form the pattern shown below.
The puzzle box will then open, forming a two-part board on top. You can see a Story card on one part and overlapping circular rails on the other. Tap on the rails to focus on it.
Notice the oval, metal slot on the rail; place the Model Ship on it. The ship will automatically travel to the rails and the aim is to make it reach the hole in the middle.
You can alter its travel pattern by tapping on the button on the lower right-hand side–it will cause the stoppers to shift. With proper timing on the shifts, you can direct the ship to the middle in just one go but should you miss, simply wait for it to circle back and then try again.
After the ship reaches its destination, the other side of the board will rise, revealing a bigger ship model that is encased in glass and wood. Rotate your camera to the wooden side with carved a rectangle that has irregular-shaped objects within.
Focus on it and then place the seahorse Metal Figure on the part that looks like a screw. Once installed, drag the seahorse to the left and release it. It has a flint that will light a fuse which will eventually make the big model ship’s cannons fire.
With the glass walls broken, you’ll be able to interact with the ship. Pull the ship’s elongated front section (bow) and that will open the door below the base of its front sail mast/pole. Tap on the fog to enter.
Interact with the board; it’s a puzzle where the aim is to trap the pink chip in the middle. You must tap on an unturned tile to make it yours since the pink chip cannot travel on your tiles. If you haven’t played a similar puzzle in the past, it might be tricky to solve.
It will only take 4 to 6 moves for the pink chip to get out if you make a bad move early, so your first two turns are crucial. The pink chip will ALWAYS move away from your first turn so your next turn must be reactionary—take a tile to cover the direction the pink chip is heading to. See the image above to see the best tiles for the first turn.
Once you have beaten the puzzle, the board will flip and you can take the Wheel. Attach it to its port at the middle part of the ship, steer it clockwise, and you’ll be able to get the target item for puzzle box number 4, the Prism.
Transition stage: using the Chapter 1 items
As soon as you grab the Prism, you’ll be back to the main hall. The time has come for you to use the four items you obtained: the Bear Sigil Figure, Ornate Hourglass, Owl Figure, and Prism.
Head to the knight statue focusing on its shield. Tap on the shield’s frame and turn it all the way clockwise. The center of the shield is now ready to be slotted with the Bear Sigil Figure. After you put it on, the knight’s cuirass will reveal a small cabinet; open it and then drag the gear to the left. The wall will flip and a big painting will take the place of the knight.
Zoom out to interact with the other item in that small hall—the wall-mounted grandfather’s clock. Pry open the glass door by swiping left on it, pull the hanging cylinder down, and then put the Ornate Hourglass on the pendulum that will rise. The wall opposite the clock will transform, and you’ll find the panel pictured below.
Put the Owl Figure on the socket that has its shape. This will power the glass scanner next to it. Move the scanner up to see the upward-pointing tips which you shall match the downward-pointing tip that each of the four sliders have. A lever will be uncovered; pull it down to move to the next sequence.
The camera will be forced to zoom out, focusing on that short hall; now with a small desk in the middle. Tap on the desk, slide the big button to the left, and wait for it to flip over and shine a ray of light upwards. Install the Prism on that receptacle in the middle.
A beam will hit a receiver attached to the painting on the wall, revealing a necklace. Take it and you shall now have the token to get to the next chapter.
Full zoom out to return to the golden podium with Roman numerals. Feed the Token on the slot in the middle and you will be taken to the next floor, officially ending Chapter 1.
You are free to look around and explore the new zone although you cannot do anything yet but enter the room for your next puzzle box.
Chapter 2: Puzzle Box 1
Look for the side of the puzzle box with a glass cabinet that has a Screwdriver and steampunk Glasses inside. Open it, take the tools, and then zoom out to the back side of the box. Fold up the two latches and pull the three slide locks away from the middle. That panel will open to reveal a mechanical hand.
Use the screwdriver to remove the two golden screws; you shall now be able to pry up that part of the hand to take the Broken Mechanism. Now it’s time to Inspect the Glasses. You’ll notice that one of the right lenses has an extra attachment—the Optical Lens. Remove it by doing a counterclockwise swipe.
Zoom out and look for the leg of the puzzle box that looks like a gear; it should be to the right if you are facing the mechanical hand. Turn it sideways to make it spin until you see a small handle. Pull it and the camera will jump to the section it is meant to open—the spirits cabinet.
Tap on all the objects there to remove them until you see a light switch. Turn the switch on and the cabinet will flip, revealing a panel with two gauges and a lever. Focus on the part above the gauges and slide to the left the golden rail at the bottom part. Toggle the red switch that you’ll see.
A small magnetic detector will appear, move it around until you find the spot. The four lights will glow brighter once you find the correct spot. You need to find the two spots to make the lever useful.
After using the lever, you will be taken back to the side of the puzzle box with the mechanical hand; this time, a small panel opens. Pick the plug from the panel and attach it to the base of the hand.
Go to the front side of the puzzle box and interact with an imprinted head; swipe down its forehead. You’ll be able to uncover a button. Press it and that panel will transform into a puzzle with metal plates.
Pay attention to the three green, round buttons and the irregular-shaped “reset” button on the left-hand side. Use the round ones to rotate the plates until you form the image shown in the screenshot below. The trick here is to fix the bottom part first and once it’s done, don’t touch it anymore and just adjust the other two with varying times each.
After solving the metal plates picture puzzle, you will be taken to the top part of the box. Click on the eyepiece at the topmost part and place the Optical Lens that you obtained earlier. Zoom out to place the Broken Mechanism on the holding plate below the series of lenses.
Go back to the eyepiece; rotate the Optical Lens all the way clockwise to make it zoom in. You now have a sliding blocks type of puzzle on your hands. The goal here is to bring the four light bulbs to the sockets on the sides.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to deal with the sliding block puzzle. Let’s start with the four upper half or the top four rows.
Step 1: Attach the wire block on the second row to the top left socket.
Step 2: Slide the topmost light bulb down then make it touch the right end of block number 1.
Step 3: Pull the long vertical wire block toward the light bulb in number 2.
Step 4: Slide the long horizontal wire block below it to the right.
Step 5: Pull long the vertical wire block down, creating a gap on the topmost row.
Step 6: Bring the small light bulb that touches the wire block in step 4 all the way to the left.
Step 7: Slide down the vertical wire block you have moved in Step 3. Use the space it creates to drag the light bulb from Step 2 to the top right socket. One light down.
Step 8: Make the wire block you have moved in Step 1 join light bulb 1 to the upper right-hand side.
Step 9: Pull the long vertical block all the way up to create space for later and then pull up the long light bulb in row 3 to link it to the top left socket. Two lights down; two to go.
Step 10: Make the shorter vertical wire block touch the longer one.
Step 11: Slide the remaining long light bulb to the left.
Step 12: Focus on the only wire block that is on the same row with the bottom sockets (row 7). Move it one square to the left then up; move the light bulb in Step 11 down and then connect it to the bottom right socket. Another light is done; only one left.
Step 13: Pull up the short vertical wire block under the light bulb that was powered in Step 9.
Step 14: Move the short wire block below the remaining light bulb to the left.
Step 15: Bring the short, vertical wire block in the middle to touch the one in Step 13 to create space.
Step 16: Bring the last light bulb to the row where the bottom socket is and then attach it. Puzzle solved.
At this point, the Broken Mechanism is now a Fixed Mechanism. It is now ready to be reinstalled to the mechanical hand. After installing it, toggle the switches like pictured above to free the wand-like object clasped by the hand. You now have the Electric Key and Chapter 2’s puzzle box 1 is all done.
Chapter 2: Puzzle Box 2
A round glass object is visible right away–that’s the Crystal Globe. Take it, inspect it, and then toggle the slide switch on its base to obtain the Intricate Mechanism.
Go to the side of the box that has an orange light and a hole. Focus on the small metal flap beneath it. Open it to obtain the Battery.
Proceed to the opposite side and focus on the round metal plate. It’s a wheel that you must spin all the way counter-clockwise multiple times, the lines will misalign but just keep on spinning it. The end position is also the same as before you touched it. Once done, the plate will split into two, revealing a keyhole; leave it for now.
Next, go to the side of the puzzle box with a rectangular button on its front. Tap on the glass window on the top part; slide it down to open it to prime ready for later.
Zoom out once, staying focused on that side, and then tap the odd-looking square on the left-hand column. Doing so will make a small handle pop out. Pull it to get a certain Tool.
Go to the opposite side of the box and focus on the iron doors below it. Swipe on the gear mechanism beside each door to create a space that will let you slide the doors sideways eventually. You will see a battery slot. Place the Battery and then solve the color match puzzle.
This puzzle is quite easy; just align the circles to the strips that match their colors. Pressing the button between two columns will make the circles swap. The best way to do this is to start from one side and then work the way to the other end.
Solving the puzzle will power the platform, finally giving purpose to the metal contacts that extend when you press the isolated rectangular button. Press it and you’ll be able to obtain a Metal Lever.
Insert the lever on top of the slot of the box and crank it all the way. This will remove the glass cover of the other dome, giving you access to the slot meant for the Intricate Mechanism. Once placed, you’ll have an easy match-the-shapes puzzle. Just turn the mechanism to slate each shape to where they fit and that’s it.
You’ll be taken to the front side of the box that looks like a gate; this time, though, two small panels are pried up showing embossed screw heads. Use the Tool to turn the screws counter-clockwise and clockwise for the left and right, respectively.
As the gate-looking panel opens you’ll be able to see a semi-circle railing. Just keep on swiping right on it to uncover a key; use it for the keyhole on one side of the box. That small compartment holds a Mechanism Part, which is what you need for the hole at the opposite side of the box.
Upon using the Mechanism Part, you’ll have on your hands the final challenge for the box, a pair-switching puzzle. The goal is to send to the inner slot three symbols that match the position and order of what’s on the mechanism’s dial.
Prioritize separating the three symbols; the technique here is to use the outer slots to send a symbol to a different circle and the inner slots to hold any in place. As you turn each dial (be it the frame, the three circles, or the middle one), everything else will turn but do not be alarmed; it will all eventually work.
Once you have successfully fixed the dials, the top part of the puzzle box will reveal a dome. It will automatically open and let you grab the main treasure of the second puzzle box of Chapter 2, the Mechanical Sphere.
Chapter 2: Puzzle Box 3
Open both narrow ends of the puzzle box. Those metal sheet walls can simply be swiped down to open like a vertical accordion door. One end has a crank and a red valve (take it) while the other has a gauge on a red cylinder with a door at its base plus an object you can get: an ornament.
Look around the puzzle box and find the slot with an ornament missing; fit the one you found. That part of the wall will open giving you a certain Mechanical Item. Inspect it and move the slider with a green dot for a full turn; this will convert it to a Gear.
Go to the top of the puzzle box and place the gear on the spot between the two jagged bars. Turning the gear will open the top panel. There, you’ll see a level with trapped rails. Spin the metal traps to bring up the sections cut out for the rails. Pull the lever down once set.
The two wide walls of the puzzle box will drop, revealing entirely new panels on both sides. One side has a wooden gate and the other has three gauges. Grab the wrench from the gauge panels and then go to the end of the box with a single gauge on a red metal cylinder.
Open the door by using the wrench on the bolt handle; just two counter-clockwise turns will do it. You can now access the next puzzle challenge. It is closely similar to the color match one in the second puzzle box of Chapter 2.
The buttons in between each column will revolve the four tubes around them clockwise. Prioritize sending the tubes meant for the rightmost column–the blue–and then work your way to the left. The best way to ensure that tubes of the same color will line up is by putting them side by side first and then turning the grouping once with the respective button.
Solving the tubes puzzle will activate the locomotor (or power up the entire puzzle box) and slide open the top part of the red cylinder. An image of three gauges will appear—take note of where the needles are pointing at—5 o’clock, 1 o’clock, and 11 o’clock positions.
Go to the side of the puzzle box with three gauges then manually adjust each, adapting the positions revealed to you. Once the correct values are set for the gauge, steam will begin to flow.
Install the red valve you obtained earlier on the slot of the same color. Turn the valve clockwise until the tube fully extends. Doing so will make the crank on the end of the puzzle box (where you got the red valve from) finally useful.
Use the crank to activate the platform; it will work like a treadmill with the puzzle box serving as a locomotive running over it. Your next objective is to “fetch” some gears from the gaps along the treadmill track.
Open the double door on the side of the puzzle box and you’ll see a mechanical claw with a green button. Time using the button when the gap is exposed to take all the gears. Once all three gears are complete, a drawer will slide out giving you the main objective for puzzle box number 3 of Chapter 3: Mechanical Console.
Chapter 2: Puzzle Box 4
There are a lot of objects that are interactive right away but start your attack by looking on top of the box. There you can see three metal plates. Rearrange them by turning both sides 180 degrees (side with one screw out; two screws facing in) then a compartment will spring up letting you take a Bulb.
Go to the side of the box with three blinking red images. Those images are clues of what you need to handle: wheel, bulb, and electricity.
For now, on the same side, unlock the vertical rectangular panel at its lower right. Fully toggle both sliding locks and when it opens, attach the two power clips to the contacts right above them. The light indicator for electricity will now be green.
Next for the bulb task, go to the side of the puzzle box with a “wheel” of light bulbs. Tap on the hub or what serves as the center of the wheel to focus. Hold any installed bulb there, rotate until you see an empty socket; drag and drop the Bulb you found earlier to attach it.
Lastly, the wheel. Zoom out then proceed to the side of the puzzle box with concentric rings. There are three rings in total and you must align them to form the order shown in the screenshot above.
Fixing the rings will uncover a slider switch just under the lights that represent the tasks. Go back to that side of the box, use the switch, and the light display panel will flop down to reveal another puzzle.
It’s a regrouping puzzle where the goal is to group the internal and external blocks of the hexagon aligned on the same side. The reference, of course, would be the symbols in the fixed golden plates in the middle.
The two rails at the side will be the pockets that you can use to rearrange the blocks. They can hold two blocks at a time and it doesn’t matter whether you slide a big or small block first.
Choose one side you want to work on first, use one pair of rails to unload the blocks that do not belong to that side, and then use the other pair of rails to get the blocks that you need. Note that you can also use any empty slots of the hexagon as temporary pockets to hold blocks as you move them around.
Just aim to get the small block in position first and it will be a breeze to solve it. Once you’re done, the puzzle box will transform and eventually project an energy orb.
Slightly pan the camera to see the inner part of one of the walls—particularly, the side that holds the light bulbs. You’ll notice a tiny window holding an item, a Fuse. Take it and put it on the slot which is just at the base part of the other side of that wall.
The fuse will power the light bulb wheel, causing a beam to hit the energy orb. By that time, the inner part of the other wall will be instantly visible. It also holds an item, an Electric Plug. Prepare it for use by inspecting it to be able to slide its legs out.
After that, go to the outer wall that has four sliding tuners; there is a sneaky panel there that may be tricky to detect. While on the tuners, pay attention to the left side “pillar” and notice the odd-looking segment. Swipe left on it to open; you’ll see that it conceals a slider switch. Toggle it and the correct position of the tuners will be revealed.
The correct positions of the tuners from left to right are row 3, row 4, row 2, and row 3. As soon as you arrange them in their correct positions, the panel below it will open, revealing a socket.
Attach the plug to the left part, hold and swipe the right part to “connect” them and it will invoke a rift at the energy orb giving you the main item for puzzle box number 4 of Chapter 2: Power Source.
Transition stage: using the Chapter 2 items
You now possess the four items required to complete Chapter 2: the Mechanical Sphere, Electric Key, Mechanical Console, and Power Source. It’s time to use them.
You will be taken back to the main room and free to pan the camera away from the now closed “elevator” door. Focus on the group of machines where there is a big, round vault door-looking object on the wall.
Approach it systematically and use the contraptions starting from left to right. Tap on the machine that has a coil protecting a light. Focus on the circular receptacle and then place the Mechanical Console.
It’s another rearrangement puzzle where the goal is to have the movable, small light blips match with the fixed blips under the five light bulbs. Their order, from right to left, is yellow-blue-blue-yellow-blue. For easier guidance, let’s refer to the three buttons that move the blips (from left to right) as buttons 1, 2, and 3.
Here is the sequence that you must press the buttons to solve it: 3 – 2 – 3 – 2 – 2 – 3 – 2 – 3 – 2 – 2 – 1. Since this is the first puzzle for the stage, feel free to reset the level in case you get it wrong.
Solving the light puzzle will cause the coil to extend and reach a big gear at the other end. It’s time to do the next step: the vault.
Zoom into the vault then press its central part to focus on it. Give the rim a few clockwise turns to remove the cover; it will open a slot for the Mechanical Sphere. Place the sphere, wait for the panel to change, and then press the button.
You will see four symbols that will be useful shortly: (left to right, top row first) bulb – valve – propeller – plug.
Next is to focus on the metal box directly to the right of the gear. It has a hole on top; insert the Electric Key to open it. You’ll see a simple puzzle that requires you to put 4 specific symbols in slots.
Rotate each disk to put the symbols you saw earlier exactly in the order given. Once done a huge gear will appear, preparing the mechanism. You’ll also notice that the four red lights to the right of the metal box will turn green.
Go to the panel under the green lights, it’s a switch box that needs the Power Source. Put it in then pull the lever down. Power will now flow further into the room and the round table will rise into a structure.
Interact with the structure, and pry open the covers to obtain the Token. Put it in the slot at the golden pedestal to complete Chapter 2: Nexus.
Chapter 3: Puzzle Box 1
There are a lot of readily-interactive parts in this puzzle box but it is best to start by obtaining the items that can unlock further steps. There are two that are easy to get and they are both near the separate locked box.
Tap on the side of the puzzle box that is directly behind the locked box; swipe up on the single latch to open that panel and obtain a Mechanical Container. Inspect it and turn its gear clockwise until it opens to get the Small Handle it carries. You’ll need two of these to finish the puzzle box.
Next, look for a drawer just to the right of the separate locked box. You’ll see that the base of the main puzzle box has a handle; pull it out to get a Gear.
Focus on the separate locked box and use the two vertical sliders on its front. Fully cranked them twice each to form a circular gap. Putting the Gear in this gap will unlock the box and let you take a Screwdriver.
Proceed to the side of the puzzle box that has two vertical sliding switches with opposite starting positions. Both have no pegs or handles and this is where the Screwdriver comes into play. Insert the tool on one peg, turn to grip, and slide all the way. Retrieve it and do the same for the other.
The panel will open showing a glass window with a thick gear slated on its top. Fully turn the gear with multiple swipes to the right until the window pops open. Take the Small Handle; you now have two of them and they are ready for use.
Look for the side of the puzzle box that already has a Small Handle installed. Put the two that you have on the slots meant for them and then dial the handles from left to right to exactly show one, three, and two white spaces in between the red grooves/lines as shown in the image above.
The panel will open, providing you an Intricate Key. Upon inspecting it, you’ll see that it has an adjustable end with four different flat pins.
Rearrange the pins to make a shape similar to what’s printed on the vault door’s knob. The arrangement requires the L-shaped flat pin to be alone and the three others grouped together as in the screenshot above.
Use the furnished Intricate Key on the knob. The circle marks on the knob will become holes, each showing a set of varying objects. It’s a simple guided puzzle and the solution can be found on the side of the box with a circular window, just on top of the panel where you got the Mechanical Container.
Tap the button at its center to activate it. Its cover will rotate around as two semi-circles, giving you just ample window of time to see the symbols behind it. Change the symbols on the knob’s slots by tapping on them until you put all five.
Once the correct symbols are in place, handles will extend from the knob. Tap and hold any handle and spin it clockwise until the door opens. Inside, you’ll see a Piggy Bank; take it and be ready for the final puzzle.
Go on top of the puzzle box and you’ll see a flipping puzzle. The aim is to get all columns to only show green (unlocked) symbols.
It’s easy to operate; use the red button to flip two columns within the two vertical dividers and slide whichever row you wish to adjust using either open side. This flipping lock puzzle can be solved in 5 steps:
1. Extend the top and bottom rows to the right and the middle one to the left and then flip once.
2. Extend all rows to the left and then give it a flip.
3. Realign all rows to the starting point and then flip once; all tiles should be red now.
4. Slide all columns to one side then flip once; half of the tiles should become green.
5. Do the same to the other half to make them all green; the pieces will automatically reorient to the middle and it’s all done.
Solving the puzzle will open the top panel, revealing a mechanism meant for crushing objects. The only interactive part there is a lever.
Place the Piggy Bank on the square plate, crank the lever, and wait for it to work. You’ll be able to retrieve the main objective for the first puzzle box of Chapter 3, the Intricate Mechanism.
Chapter 3: Puzzle Box 2
Unlike any of the previous puzzle boxes, this one has very few interactive objects off the bat. In fact, there is only one that is outright useful and that is the purple circle placed high on one side. Zoom into it and you’ll notice that it is a dial. Rotate it to send the gap to the 12 o’clock position.
Unroll the lock by continuously swiping up. It shall eventually open and give you an Antenna. Place it in its slot, which is an elevated purple ring that is separate from the main puzzle box. After putting the Antenna, it will extend on its own and enable the panel of the puzzle box right behind it.
The tuning dials will now be usable and a frequency display will be uncovered. No fancy method is required here; just look for the frequency ranges in between red lines and align them upright. Let the tuner also point straight upwards. Doing all that will open the panel and turn it into a 3×3 slot machine.
To get the pattern you need for the slot machine, go to the window of the puzzle box that is directly the opposite of the purple circle where you obtained the Antenna. Slide the left side lock to open it; you now have the pattern. For easier reference, it’s (top row) Watermelon-Watermelon-Bell, (mid row) Watermelon-Bell-Cherry, and (bottom row) Bell-Cherry-Cherry.
Back to the slot machine, use the corresponding row and column changing buttons to achieve the pattern. Once you have the pattern, a lever will appear; pull it and it will activate the once-dormant lights and circle figures on the platform.
The two circles may show different forms of lights but the concept of solving them is the same—just gently keep on rotating the pairs of movable parts until you find the sweet spot where every single pinhead light is lit. For a reference of how you must position the spokes, see the screenshot below.
Once you have found the sweet spots, they will flip and show a strip of light tube each. Rotate the light tubes to orient them with the fixed ones on the table. Aligning the light tubes will uncover a button on each of the gramophones’ bases. Press them to retrieve a Musical Cylinder and a Mechanical Flower.
Go to the side of the puzzle box with embossed musical notes and then tap on the upper part where a small hole is. Place the Mechanical Flower over the hole. Pulling the petals in a certain order will let the Mechanical Flower activate the panel below it. See the image below for the correct order.
Once the flower is fixed, the lower panel will show two poles that are seemingly meant to hold a cylinder in between. However, the gap is yet wide for the cylinder you just obtained. Inspect it; look for the green arrowhead and rotate it all the way to meet the smaller arrowhead to extend it.
Place the expanded cylinder on the port and its middle part will open to reveal the last puzzle. There are three bands: bronze, silver, and gold. They have slots and movable blocks and the goal is to group the blocks to the color they belong.
This puzzle is a bit tricky and takes a lot of back-and-forth movements to solve. All you need to remember is that you must use the extra slots on the left and right as pockets while rearranging. Aim to solve one side first and store a block that is already on the correct side to create space.
Once you have successfully rearranged the bands, the roof of the puzzle box will open and give you the main loot of the second puzzle box of Chapter 3: Piano Keys.
Chapter 3: Puzzle Box 3
This puzzle box has a lever on its base that will cause the sides to rotate when used. Focus on it and give it two swipes to the right; a panel will open where you can take two Small Knobs. Just right above the window that holds the knobs is a slider switch; trigger it while you’re there and you’ll be sent to a different side.
There are three rings that keep that panel locked and three red buttons. Tapping on a button once will cause a corresponding ring to rotate and tapping it a second time will stop it. Start with the left one first. The goal is to make all three stop with their gaps facing upwards or the 12 o’clock position.
Once unlocked, take the Magnifying Glass and Camera. Inspect the camera and press the release button on its back side to open it. Tap on the film to take it; you’ll need it as a clue for later.
Time to use the Small Knobs to get more clues. Observe the corners of the puzzle box and spot the two that have slim, gold frames with a peg on top. Put a Small Knob on each peg and slide them all the way down. This will open the largest panel of the puzzle box.
Tap on the stack of trays to remove them one by one. The first three will tumble away from the platform but the last and biggest one will land just in front of the opened panel. Interact with it to get the Fingerprint Card.
Zoom out to the table lamp and toggle its switch; it will change from a normal, warm light to UV light. It’s a sign that it’s meant to reveal something and that will be the evidence board, which you can flip from the space once covered by the trays.
With the UV light on now, you’ll be able to see two immediately available pieces of evidence, each with corresponding letters. Align the evidence to the space that matches their shape. Place the Fingerprint Card and Film on the board and do the same. The code, from left to right and top to bottom, is R-W-S-L.
Look for the stamper on the platform that is placed over a map. Focus on it then use the stamper. Once it falls, take out the Magnifying Glass and run it on the red “TOP SECRET” stamp. You’ll see a 4-digit code: 4-2-1-8.
Apply this code to the number lock that you can see on the base of the puzzle box. After entering the code, a tray will slide out, exposing a story note and an Old Key. Take the key and go to the top of the puzzle box.
Use the key to release the two braces and swipe them sideways to gain access to a letter combination puzzle. The letters you saw on the evidence board form the solution; arrange them in the same order by using the buttons.
The button at the middle circle will take the 4 letters aligned in its lines while the ones in the 4 outer circles will simply cause them to rotate. Separate the letters and rearrange them; a simple puzzle to beat.
Once you have secured the four letters in their respective slots, the puzzle will flip, letting you take the objective item for the third puzzle box of Chapter 3: Film Reel.
Chapter 3: Puzzle Box 4
In this puzzle box with a playing cards suits theme, the side of the club is where you shall begin. In front of it is a puzzle that works like a Mastermind game but instead of guessing a combination of colored pegs, you have playing cards.
The correct cards and order, from left to right, is Jack-Queen-Four-King. Upon slating the cards, hit the blue button and the club symbol will drop, letting you take an Ace Card.
Inspect the Ace Card, look at its backside, and move the curved metal strips to free the Heart Shape. Once you have it, move to the side of the heart’s side of the puzzle box.
Tap on the heart symbol to focus, push in the two upper diagonal rails to connect them, and then slide both circle locks all the way up to the end of the rails. The heart cover will drop revealing a slot for the Heart Shape you acquired.
A cylinder will extend with two simple doors. Open the doors and then take the Small Figure. This bust figurine of a queen is what you need for the puzzle board in front of the spade’s side of the puzzle box. Go to the board and put the figurine on the embossed black marker on the right-hand side to activate it.
The goal is to help the pawn reach the end node guarded by the knight. Both the knight and the pawn can only move one node per turn and the only way to beat this task is by using the path drawn in the screenshot above.
After clearing that puzzle, the board will split and a cylindrical contraption will rise. Tap on its rear end, rotate the lower circle to align the rail, and then slide the lock down to open the receptacle. Next is to find the object that you must insert there.
Zoom out and check the corner between the heart and spade sides. You’ll see a switch that blends quite well. Flick it and right above it, an object will pop up—a Power Source. Take it and put it in the receptacle you’ve previously opened to make the contraption emit a beam.
Proceed to the top of the puzzle box. There are four knights with lances held out facing the center. They should all be made to face outward to free the cage in the middle.
Tapping one will cause another 1 or 2 others to also move so randomly tapping is not the way through it. This challenge can, however, be solved in just four moves. See the photo below for the sequence.
Once done, pull the cage up, unhook the lock, and turn the head of the joker figurine until its breastplate fully opens. Take the Small Crown and zoom back out.
Look for the serrated slot in the front of the diamond’s side of the puzzle box. Place the crown there, wait for a king figurine to pop up, and push the throne all the way back. As a result, the diamond symbol will flip down and expose a Small Diamond.
Take the Small Diamond and go back to the spade’s side. Insert the Small Diamond in the hole where the beam hits. That panel will transform into a puzzle. This puzzle is similar to the pinhead lights in the music-themed puzzle box earlier in the chapter.
Use the image above for reference on the correct positioning. The key here is to make fine rotations for the three movable rings since no ring will lock in place until you release the hold for the final correction.
After sorting the light beam puzzle, the joker figurine on top will be replaced by the final objective item of Chapter 3, the Remote Control.
Transition stage: using the Chapter 3 items
Now equipped with all the items needed to finish the chapter, go to the lounge area where you can see a couch and a fireplace. To recap, that’s the Intricate Mechanism, Piano Keys, Film Reel, and Remote Control.
It’s best to do the most obvious one first—go to the piano and insert the Piano Keys into the slot meant for it. Upon installing it, you’ll still need to align the glowing Roman Numbers with the orange line. The first key will move columns 1 and 2, the second will move columns 1 and 3, the third will move all three, and the fourth will move columns 2 and 3.
Solving this will take multiple moves but it will make it easier for you to first see the alignment of columns 1 and 2 to gain reference. For that, hit the third key until they are both visible; you’ll see that they start as aligned.
Play the fourth key until the glowing number in column 3 is just a line above column 1. Next, keep playing the first key until columns 2 and 3 are aligned. Once done, continuously hit the third key to move everything, aiming to bring the glowing number in column 1 to the orange line. All that’s left is to play the fourth key to align them all together.
After solving the piano key puzzle, a projector will rise from the floor. Insert the Film Reel into the slot. Zoom out then focus on the circular table in front of the couch. Fully rotate the right knob clockwise and the left knob counter-clockwise to expose a button. Pressing the button will make a dock pop up from the table.
Put the Remote Control on the dock and hit the play button. The film will begin playing; let it play until the video reveals a certain pattern in the background. You need this pattern for the final puzzle.
Zoom out then go to the deer head decoration on the wall. Swipe up on its forehead to open it then put the Intricate Mechanism on the slot. The wall will withdraw and present the final puzzle of the chapter. You’ll need to flip the wooden tiles, copying the pattern seen in the video.
Once the pattern is made, that section of the wall opens, letting you take the Token. As usual, put on the pedestal to ascend to the next floor and complete Chapter III: Cognito.
Chapter 4: Puzzle Box 1
As soon as you load into the stage, an item pokes behind the puzzle box—a Lyre. Pick it up, inspect it, and toggle the slider switch underneath its base. Doing so will reveal a Key; pull it up to take it.
Look for the keyhole in one of the loop decorations on the puzzle box’s roof. Use the Key and grab the Crossbow from the panel that it will open. Keep it for now.
Go to the side of the puzzle box with a set of pillars on both ends. Focus on the ones on the left first. Pay attention to the shiny characters on the wall behind them. Those characters are just partial and you must “complete” them by rotating the pillars to bring out the parts they lack.
Now, go to other set of pillars and form the same characters that look like K-E-D. The base of each pillar can only be swiped left or right to adjust. Once done, a panel to its right will slide out; grab the Door Handle within.
The name itself is a little trick because the Door Handle is not for a door but the roof. Tap on the top of the puzzle box to focus on the roof and then put the door handle in the center. After installing the handle, rotate it clockwise so you can free the rails and slide them out.
Open the roof to access the next puzzle—a relief depicting a war. The aim here is to complete each shadow and pair them with the fitting figures.
Fully slide the upper part to the left to form all shadows and then hold and swipe the images to where they fit. Note that it is important to accurately fit the images on top of their respective shadows.
Fixing the relief will change some features of the puzzle box and send you directly to a side with an available action. It’s an easy one; just keep on tapping the gaps until they form a horizontal line. Pull in both slider switches and that panel will open, unveiling a Minotaur-looking figure equipped with a shield.
In front of the Minotaur, bleachers/steps will appear; look for the part that looks like a cutout. Slide it to the right to obtain a Mechanism Part. Go to the other side of the puzzle box and focus on the door.
Place the Mechanism Part on the ledge that keeps the door shut. Spin it clockwise to expose the pegs and push them outward to open the door. You’re now facing the final puzzle of the chapter.
The aim is to bring the four-pointed figure on the left to the other end but it won’t be easy since the tiles are meant to move left at some points, creating an illusion of being stuck.
We won’t take the fun away in solving this one. The best tip we can give is to occupy a middle row tile to scout the surrounding tiles and aim to access the direction-shifting, circled tiles. Once you’ve finished it, the wall will be removed, exposing the Minotaur’s back.
It’s now time to use the chariot parked at one narrow end of the puzzle box. Mount the Crossbow to activate the chariot, aim it toward the puzzle box, and wait until you’re behind the Minotaur before pulling the trigger. If you successfully land a hit, a panel will rise, giving you the first objective item of Chapter 4, the Horse Figure.
Chapter 4: Puzzle Box 2
Check around the puzzle box to see the two other objects on the platform apart from the puzzle box: a small locked container and a Conductor’s Hat. Grab the hat and inspect it. Take a look inside it and you’ll be able to get a Metal Disk.
Go to the front of the puzzle box and focus on the flower-like ornament. Rotate the gold ring and send its gap to allow the green flaps to be flipped. The panel will open and the circular cutout there is where you must put the Metal Disk in.
Installing the disk pits you with a rearrangement puzzle. The key here is to use one of the slots as a pocket to remove a figure and the other to fetch the figure you wish to send where it belongs. Once you have sorted it, that side of the puzzle box will transform into a house façade, including two extensions at both ends.
Proceed to the opposite side of the puzzle box. There are partially exposed green disks with golden frames. Rotate the disks to expose their gaps, aligning them with the pegs so you can slide them out. Doing this will uncover the Mechanical Wheel.
Take the Mechanical Wheel and use it on the locked container. Opening it gives you a Small Badge; you’ll be needing two of these so let’s get the other one.
Check one of the corners of the puzzle box’s roof. There is a tiny switch that looks like a can ring. Slide it and press the button it uncovers. This will transform the pillar beneath it into a Screwdriver.
Bring the Screwdriver to the narrow side where you took the Conductor’s Hat earlier. Drag it to the green screw head and it will automatically interact, revealing to you the other Small Badge.
Go back to the house façade and slide each window up then install a badge on each window. The door will open, giving you access to a lever. Pull it down and that entire panel of the box will open, revealing a train while a railway rises around the puzzle box.
Tap on the train to focus on it. Roll up the three metal sheets along the engine to open a wide rail and then slide the vertical, golden bar on the right all the way to the left. Doing this will move you to the front part of the train where you must solve a rotating rings puzzle.
The goal is to set the gaps of the rings to face the 12 o’clock position and eventually pull the stopper down. It’s an easy one but can be tricky if overdone since the rings will spin together so here are the 3 steps to quickly sort it:
1. Align the gap of the outermost ring first by spinning it counter-clockwise; pull the stopper to lock it in place.
2. With a counter-clockwise motion, send the gap of the next ring to the 9 o’clock position first and then move it clockwise to align it with the first one. This move will sort the gaps between the two inner rings.
3. Pull the stopper to secure the alignment of the two outer rings and then orient the inner rings by spinning the innermost one clockwise; pull the stopper down to complete the puzzle.
Completing the rings will activate the locomotive. Wait for it to return to the puzzle box; you’ll see that it has ‘fetched’ a puzzle—the final one for this stage. This puzzle requires you to send three chips to the marked slots on the left. Note that the four directional buttons will move the chips all at once.
The strategy here is to first send the chip on top to the right and “trap” it in a slot that will prevent it from running through the longest railing again. After that, send the other chips after.
It will all be easy once all of the chips are already in the area of the marked spots. Once done, the carriage will open, letting you grab the second objective item for Chapter 4, the Model Figure.
Chapter 4: Puzzle Box 3
Grab the two other objects on the platform: the Oil Lamp and the Knife. Inspect the Knife, press the button on its guard to retract the blades, and then pull the Key to take it.
The key is for the remaining isolated object on the platform, a lamp. Use it to remove the padlock and take the Lit Candle inside.
Just behind the lamp, is a side of the puzzle box where you can see two triangular slider locks. Move them accordingly so you can uncover the puzzle on that wall. In this puzzle, you need to sort the squares with identical figures together along their marked rows.
The blue buttons will switch the two squares they separate. Overall, it’s an easy puzzle to do. After you’re done, two walls open and coins will pour out. In the piles of hexagon coins, you can get two items a Coin and a Scorpion Figure.
Find the odd-looking roof of the puzzle box and put the scorpion there. Slide up and that panel will open a turning switch. Using that switch will open the uppermost dome and reveal a Metal Ring; take it.
Zoom out then go to the side of the puzzle box with a protruding shiny sphere. Put the Metal Ring on it and it will uncover a gravity marble maze type of puzzle. The goal is to make the movable hexagon reach the center; it should be easy if you gently control it so the moving rail won’t be out of place for its part.
Once done, the walls of the puzzle box will open forming a wide board. In front of the silver face in the middle, is a circle base with blue parts. Rotate it a bit to uncover the slots within and place the Coin on it; the cover will flip open, revealing a funnel-shaped receptacle with a wick.
Drag the Oil Lamp and then the Candle to the funnel to use them. A trail of fire will light up and the puzzle box will reveal a corridor. Tap on the figure that stands in front of the corridor for the last challenge.
This challenge requires you to send the figure to the end of the corridor. Tap and hold the figure to make it move forward and then release it when the coin flips and the eyes of the guardian become red.
The counting to perfectly time each release would be 5-5-3-3 seconds. When you reach the end, you’ll automatically return outside, ready to grab the objective item for the third puzzle box of chapter 3: Model Tower.
Chapter 4: Puzzle Box 4
Working through this puzzle box is a straightforward business since the only other interactive object at the start—apart from the story card—is the rectangular carving between two vertically cut-out strips. Go there and swipe left or right on the base until you find the slots that match both strips.
Pull the double golden switches to open that panel and get the Wheel. Bring it to the silver-rimmed circle, which is at the part of the puzzle box that is visible from the beginning. Insert it and give it one full rotation to trigger the pins and it shall unlock the first puzzle.
This puzzle requires you to align the blue spokes in the wheels to all fall within the framed section. The Roman numbers below them dictate how many movements their partner wheel will make when the green button is pressed. Note that their positions can be swapped and you have to clear the puzzle twice.
If yet untouched, it can be solved by using I-III-II then II-III-I for the first part and II-I-III then I-II-III for the second. After solving it, a slider switch will open on top; use it and it will transform the puzzle box into a Middle-Eastern structure, complete with a dome and minarets.
Check the minarets as two of them have interactive parts or items. One of them has a screw-like segment; “tighten” the screw with a few left swipes and you can eventually get a Rotating Handle. The other has a light blue pin; pull it and it will uncover an Ornament Piece.
Just right below the minaret that gives the Ornament Piece, there is a slider switch. Toggle it and the glass that covers the other half of the Ornament Piece will retract, letting you take it.
With both pieces in your hands now, go to the main door of the structure. Attach a piece to both ends of the wide bar and then pull them together to the center. This will open the door and lead you to the next puzzle.
It’s a picture pairing puzzle where you must arrange the buttons in an order that they match the ones in the engraved/lowered slots. Some images in the slots may not be too clear but they will rise once they are paired with their correctly.
The side buttons will rotate the ones in the outer circles while the center one will simply swap those in the two nodes in the middle. Use the center nodes for rearranging. It will take time and a lot of moves to sort everything but it is relatively easy.
Solving that puzzle reveals to you the Dragon Medallion. Take it, zoom out once, and tap just right above the main door. You’ll see a slot that’s just right for the medallion. Fit it there and a gong will be erected over that section.
Fully zoom out then tap on the highest point of the puzzle box. You’ll see that the top of the dome has a socket; slap in the Rotating Handle and crank it all the way clockwise. The dome will retract, revealing a dragon egg.
Zoom out again and look around the base of where the dragon egg stands. Look for a strip with grates and swipe left to open; you’ll see the Gong Mallet. Take it then strike the gong.
Sounding the gong summons a dragon that will blow fire to the egg, forcing it to open. You can then seize the last objective item of Chapter 4, the Dragon Figure.
Transition stage: using the Chapter 4 items
As soon you go back to the main hall with the pedestal, pan around until you see a diorama of an ancient city. You now have the items to close Chapter 4: the Horse Figure, Model Figure, Model Tower, and Dragon Figure.
Start with the left section of the diorama. There is a big gear at the lower part, turn it to send the boat figure in the middle to the left. Once it touches the left end, the circular base will flip and reveal a holder for wheels. Place the Horse figure there and drag it to the boat.
Use the gear again but turn it the other way this time to send the Horse Figure. Once it reaches the end, drag it all the way to the right until it enters the arch. This will automatically bring you to the right section of the diorama.
Now, from the Horse Figure stands and the other end, there is a gap; place the Model Figure along that gap and it will transform into a bridge. With the bridge now deployed, bring the Horse Figure all the way to the right.
There is also a big gear at the lower part of that section; turn it to open a receptacle just next to it. Attach the Model Tower once it fully opens.
The tower will automatically transform and it will have two green wing handles. Turn it clockwise to raise the Horse Figure. The camera will automatically focus on the last segment.
Pay attention to the wide circle with a pedestal in the middle near the door. Tap on it to focus and then place the Dragon Figure.
Glyphs will light up forming a pattern and you’ll briefly be taken to the door, showing the last puzzle of the chapter. Tap on it to refocus and copy the pattern formed by the glyphs.
Just tap on the light pegs one by one, starting from either right or left. Once done, the door will open and all you need to do is to push the Horse Figure in.
Watch the roof as it opens and reveals to you the Token. Take it to the pedestal and put it as usual. You’ve now completed Chapter 4: Fractus.
Chapter 5: Puzzle Box 1
Go to the horn lying in front of the puzzle box. Rotate the circle to slide the bean-shaped peg to the space on the right. After which, you need to send the vacated slot to face the 6 or 12 o’clock position. It will automatically open; take the Small Handle it keeps.
Go to the other wide side of the puzzle box (opposite of where the sword is) and then swipe away the metal guards to uncover the slot for the handle. Put the Small Handle and turn it all the way clockwise until the panel opens.
This is a traditional sliding tiles puzzle and your reference would be the glowing tile on the upper left. See the image above for the completed version.
Solving that puzzle will open that panel and you can now take a certain Puzzle Box. Inspect it, turn the rotating switch underneath and its top cover will flip open. Take the Celtic Knot and zoom back out.
Go to the sword and tap on the hilt/guard to focus. Swipe left on the round decoration; you’ll see a slot meant for the knot. Placing the Celtic Knot there will unlock the metal windings on the sword’s guard. Swipe them sideways accordingly to get them out of the way then pull the sword out to take it.
Proceed to the top of the puzzle box and thrust the Short Sword into the slit. This will open the panels under the wolf head ornaments. As such, those are where the next steps happen.
In those panels, you need to move the long slider inside all the way up. For that, you will need to “dial” up and down the slider outside to create gaps. Once finished, the mouths of the wolf heads will open, giving you a total of four runes.
Check the runes and place them on top of the Viking head sculptures that match their symbols. Upon placing all the runes, blue lights will course around the platform and a circular pedestal will rise in front of the puzzle box.
Fully zoom out and have a bird’s eye view; you’ll see that one of the pillars attached to a chain has an object on top. Take it; that’s the Dragon Token that you need for the pedestal. Place the token and the pedestal will become rotatable.
Rotate it all the way left and it will rise from the floor, revealing a fragmented crystal. Turn the fragments until all sides with a drawing are facing front. It will automatically rebuild itself and a spirit dragon will fly out, eventually smashing the roof of the puzzle box.
Focus on the part the dragon has collided with. Grab it; that’s the objective item for the first puzzle box chapter 5: Cryptex.
Chapter 5: Puzzle Box 2
Start by going to the narrow end of the puzzle box with holes and five crystals. Before you focus on the puzzle, pick up the Aztec Mug standing near the story card. Inspect it and get the Old Arrow Head from its bottom.
As for the puzzle there, the goal is to get all the crystals within the five slots of the innermost plate. The snake bar that goes through those plates will be the instrument to transfer crystals horizontally; vertically, you must rotate the plates.
The best method is to secure a crystal on the top and bottom slots first. That can easily be done by moving the snake one slot to the left or right and then rotating the smallest plate. After that, you’ll have two crystals near each other and one remaining on the opposite side.
Use the dark plate to store the two adjacent ones then bring the far one closer using the light plate.
This will make lining up the three remaining crystals together easily. All in all, this puzzle can be done in 13 moves.
Finishing that puzzle gives you the Crystal Skull. Keep it for now then go to the back side of the puzzle box. The small circle is a simple turning lock; just rotate it until its slit is vertically upright and then pull each side away to open the panel.
Spam tap the button until all three columns fully expose the slider switch. Swipe it all the way right then take the Small Figure hidden there.
Go to the other narrow end of the puzzle box, put the Small Figure in the middle of the circle, and then press the button within its mouth. The panel will uncover a puzzle that follows the same concept of sliding tiles but is easier since it’s all about moving objects around with no size. Refer to the image below for the arranged version.
Once done, take the Aztec Artifact and go to the front of the puzzle box. Tap on the face and turn its crown until the odd side is in front—that’s the slot for the artifact. Place it there then rotate the circles on its cheek to make the red lines in its eyes align with that of the face.
It will split in half and open a receptacle. Place the Crystal Skull and the puzzle box will become a totem. The next puzzle is right there in front and an easy one—you just need to swipe to swipe up or down on the cubes to find the right body parts that will complete the two-headed dragon.
Completing the puzzle will transform that panel into a slide switch. It lacks a handle and that’s where the Old Arrow Head comes into play. Install it, pull it all the way up, and then get the main objective item for the second puzzle box of chapter 5: Ancient Key.
Chapter 5: Puzzle Box 3
Prioritize picking up the objects placed on the platform. That would be the Medallion on the cat sculpture and the Hammer. Smash the vases using the Hammer and you’ll obtain a Puzzle Piece.
Check the base of the pyramid near the cat sculpture for a slab of stone. Swipe it to the right and take the Scroll. Inspect it to unroll and see a clue for a puzzle ahead.
Go to the other side of the pyramid near the cat sculpture and place the Puzzle Piece in the slot at the center. It’s a sliding block puzzle but you do not need to assemble anything, just a few adjustments required to bring the colored piece to the protruding slot on the right. Solving the puzzle gives you the Beetle Cocoon.
Proceed to the front of the pyramid and fit the Medallion on the Eye of Ra. It will flip over and show a flathead peg for the rail there. To use that slider, you need an activating handle and that’s the Scarab. It’s inside the Beetle Cocoon; inspect it to take it.
Pull the slider all the way up and the upper walls of the pyramid will collapse, revealing an inner, mystical pyramid. Look around to see a mounted peephole at one side of the pyramid. Swivel its cover and tap to look through it.
While on the peephole, there’s a “floating” Eye of Horus that sticks to your field of vision. You’ll need to pan the camera around the room to search for a similar symbol and make it rest exactly on top with the correct orientation. It will glow blue once successfully done.
The Eye of Horus will activate and spires will rise beaming light to the gem on the platform. This will also remove the bars covering the circular panel in that area. Swipe its covers to the sides to face the final puzzle.
Rearrange the hexagon tiles according to the pattern found on the scroll. The reward for solving it is the Strange Pyramid. Take it and put it on top of the glowing pyramid.
After installing the Strange Pyramid, slide the Scarab up again to access the last task of the puzzle box. It’s a timing challenge; you need to press and hold the trapezoid button to move the arrowhead and make it stop exactly on the three symbols above.
Precisely releasing the hold is required, making it quite challenging. To accustom yourself to the timing needed, try to aim for the second or the last symbol first. Once all the symbols are activated, the panel below will open giving you the Small Crystal.
Insert the Small Crystal on the side opposite of the Scarab’s and enjoy the series of animations. At the end of all will be a sphinx cradling the objective item for the third puzzle box of chapter 3: DNA Container.
Chapter 5: Puzzle Box 3
There are jagged decorations on the roof of the puzzle box; check them well as one of them is a slider switch. Use it and the panel underneath will reveal an interactive painting. Check the scenery until you see a stamp of four dice numbers.
Zoom out then go to the other narrow side of the puzzle box with cylindrical lanterns. Turn the one on the top right until you see a switch. Toggle it and that panel will open, giving you the puzzle where you can use the dice numbers earlier.
This puzzle is quite challenging because each button will adjust two numbers at a time, respective of their positions. There’s a friendly reset button in case you get lost in tuning the numbers but here’s a much friendlier offering: the solution. Solve the dice numbers puzzle using these 8 simple steps:
1. Press C1-R2 4 times
2. Press C2-R2 4 times
3. Press C3-R4 2 times
4. Press C4-R4
5. Press C3 R4
6. Press C1-R2
7. Press C4-R4
8. Press C1-R2
Solving the dice puzzle gives you the Brass Handle. This belongs to the round socket at the back side of the puzzle box. Inserting it automatically gives you the next puzzle which can be effortlessly solved by hitting the buttons there in a left-right-left order.
The puzzle panel opens and lets you take a Mechanical Part. Inspect it and its sharp edges give a hint of what it is. Keep turning the movable side to fully tighten it and it will become a proper Shuriken.
Zoom out then return to the starting point or the front side. Spin both metal flowers until the gaps of the ring locks free the bars and then swipe up and down on the circle to uncover the slot for the Shuriken.
Placing the shuriken gives you a puzzle similar to the Mechanical Flower of Chapter 3 Box 2. You need to extend the blades (using the crescent buttons) in a certain order which we indicated in the image above.
After fixing the Shruiken, rotate the extended spokes all the way clockwise. This will make the box withdraw to the ground and a Shinto Shrine arch will appear with a portal. Tap on the portal to enter.
Focus on the lower lantern; spin it a bit to access its window, swipe the cover, and obtain the Bird Figure. Place this figure on the screw socket at the caged lantern. Swipe right a few times to fully tighten it and the cage will eventually give you a maze-type puzzle.
Unlike the usual mazes where you navigate toward an exit, this one requires you to move the maze itself and fill the castle cutout at the top.
Once you’ve finished the maze, you can finally access the lantern inside. Turn it until the side with triangle flaps are in front. Swivel the flaps and you’ll be able to get a Key. You may now exit the portal.
Pan the camera around and interact with the small stone structure behind the shrine. Rotate the cap on top counter-clockwise until it falls off and exposes a keyhole.
Use the key and its walls will collapse, letting you own the main objective item for the last puzzle box of Chapter 5: Power Source.
Activating Aurora: using the Chapter 5 items
Back in the main hall, all you have is the pedestal and the device with rotating sections—it’s the container where Aurora is kept. It’s time to bring her to life since you now possess the items for the task: the Cryptex, Ancient Key, DNA Container, and Power Source.
Tap on the base of the container to focus and then put the Cryptex in the slot at the right. The panel next to it will pop up; swipe it to the left to access a slider switch. Toggle the switch and the covered circle in the middle will open, exposing a keyhole.
Insert the Ancient Key, turn it counterclockwise, and the rim will change. Bring the lone circle rim spoke to the left and you’ll have the first puzzle for the stretch.
This puzzle literally requires back-and-forth movements but it is not as complicated as it looks. Using the two movement buttons, you need to rotate the small circles so the gold lines in each will all together form one big circle. Each circle must be dealt with one at a time, alternating from one to the next until they all align.
After sorting the circles, the walls of the container will recede, finally revealing Aurora. She is, however, still behind a cage. Toggle the controls on the wide octagon; it’s just a combination of buttons to press and sliders.
With Aurora now accessible, tap on her and pan the camera to access her back. Install the DNA Container in the receptacle there. This will widen the opening on her chest; fit the Power Source and see her.
Everything beyond this point is just a series of animations. Nothing left to do but to enjoy witnessing the beginning of a new world with Aurora. Congratulations on completing Boxes: Lost Fragments!
